I have been fascinated by the deep sea since childhood and have found mosaic to be the perfect medium for recreating coral reefs and sea life habitats.
Deep Sea Angler came to life when I shattered a small maroon flower pot with a bumpy texture. The shards came to be a portion of the reef that I built around my favorite deep sea creature, the Anglerfish.
The green pottery shards are re-purposed from a ceramic artist’s broken wares, another artist donated the raku cabochons that form the bottom of the reef and the white tube worms, red coral and an orange starfish were all cut from pieces of broken pottery.
