One of my favorite pieces, Space Case was prompted by my desire to pair the dark, mirror like surface of black opalescent stained glass with bright, almost neon colored glass and beads.
Reflecting my love of deep space and bright explosions of color, this sculpture created using a real high heel shoe, reminds me of velvet black light posters.
The moody dark background makes the electric colors of the lime green Milky Way and celestial objects pop off the shoe!
Exhibited at Heavens Above, Opus Mosaic Gallery, Exeter, UK as part of the 2009 International Year of Astronomy.
