El Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) is a Mexican celebration in which people remember and celebrate their loved ones that have departed. Families make colorful sugar skulls and altars for the holiday. Day of the Dead celebrations are alive with color and intricately decorated calaveras (skulls).
I am envious of cultures that use color with abandon. It was the colorful patterns that attracted me to the Mexican holiday in the first place. I have found stained glass to be the perfect medium to express my affinity for the sugar skulls and catrina skeletons of El Dia de los Muertos.
